When Yesterday Challenges Your Day

Will Rogers once said, “Don’t let yesterday use up too much of today.” This is a quote that we should all keep in mind when we find ourselves trying to move on from a series of unfortunate events that, up until now, may have been emotionally painful. It is fine to keep those unfortunate situations or incidents in perspective but not to let them derail your day to day endeavors. Remember, unfortunate incidents are just that, unfortunate incidents. They do not reflect in your ability to make good decisions to pursue a prosperous life.

As I have said previously, experience is much more solid when you experience many failures or have faced extremely difficult situations. However, the key is to learn to let go of negative experiences that we may have become emotionally attached to because, although such experiences may be intellectually useful they can become emotionally debilitating. In my book I describe the importance of letting go and ways to dissociate from bad experiences. What is unfortunate is that no one can do that for you. At some point you must believe that continuing to dwell in bad experiences or unfortunate incidents will not make what went wrong, right.
