Your Motivated Self

Motivation is having the inner drive to do something. When we are depressed, it is difficult to have that inner drive to do anything. After a series of setbacks somehow your motivation may leave you. The key to change that is to understand that to regain your motivation you need to replenish it with new experiences. If you lack motivation about living your life, leave your comfort zone. Your inner drive is not going to comeback by falling into your lap, if you stay in your comfort zone. In fact the reason you don’t feel motivated to do anything, when you are in your comfort zone, is because your comfort zone shields you from new opportunities.

You need to find a reason for your inner drive to exist and the best way to do that is by experiencing new things and taking chances. You can also take on new hobbies or spend some time every day on self-enriching activities. Your new experiences can be as simple as taking time to think about the positive in every setback you had in the past and using that to chart a new road towards success or as challenging as finding a social or medical cause to fight for. Once you start doing that, you will encounter challenges that will help you bring your inner strength back because you will really want to take on them. However, the key to keep your inner drive from becoming depleted again is to finish what you start. Move from one challenging experience to the next without giving up or finding excuses not to finish them. Your inner drive feeds on accomplishments and not on giving up or finding excuses.
