Embracing Negative Circumstances

Negative circumstances can be challenging to overcome. It may be tough to find the strength to feel better about a break up, getting fired, the death of someone you loved, being diagnosed with a debilitating or terminal illness, or financial stress. However, such experiences can mean a new beginning and depending on how you choose to approach the situation, will determine whether it will transform your life for the better. If you choose to see yourself as a victim, then the outcome will more likely be a negative one. If you choose to see yourself as a fighter and see your challenge as an opportunity to prove to yourself and others that you can overcome adversity, then the outcome will be more positive than if you didn’t.

The first thing you can do is accept the fact that there is nothing to gain by dwelling on the situation or how it came about. You should instead use that energy to come up with ideas on how to make the situation more bearable. By accepting the fact that you must deal with the situation head on, you may feel more at peace or at least, less tormented. This will, in turn, allow you to look at your options in a realistic and creative way. Your mind will not be clouded by the rage or anger that could lead to making the wrong decisions. In essence you will be in absolute control of the outcome.

There is no doubt that negative circumstances are undesirable. However, they are necessary if you want to become emotionally stronger and intellectually wise. It is no secret that those who give up, whenever they face difficult situations, have a much difficult time achieving the type of unremarkable success, that those who choose to embrace negative circumstances do.
