Self-doubt

Believing in yourself in the face of self-doubt that stalk your thoughts day in and day out can be challenging. That’s because self-doubt can crush your confidence and lead to fear. You begin to fear that you may, once again, prove to your peers that you are nothing but a failure. You fear that the negative view that you have about yourself may once again prove to be true. More than anything you fear that you will never be good enough.

This will make you feel extremely insecure about yourself. Self-doubt can suck all the energy out of your motivation. The lack of motivation may also allow fear to overwhelm you. That’s because only self-confidence and motivation can keep your fear under wraps. As such, conquering fear is key to eliminating self-doubt. Fear can make you question your abilities to achieve anything in life. However, that fear is not going to end overnight and it is not going to end by attempting to move on without addressing the root of your fear.

It is best to conquer it by facing it head on. The best way to do that is to soul search your reasons to experience such fear. Who are you afraid to disappoint and what is the worst that could happen if you were to disappoint anyone including yourself? Will the world end? If it will not end why the fear? If the world does not end you can always keep trying. After all, there is nothing wrong with trying to achieve something over and over again.

Before Thomas Edison created the light bulb he failed so many times that his peers began to demean him. The difference is that he believed in himself and could care less what anybody thought. In your case that is easier said than done. However, you can always take baby steps to conquer your fear. Start by setting short-term achievable goals. As you get more comfortable, begin to challenge yourself with more difficult goals.

By doing so, you will begin to experience a sense of pride that will impart the confidence that you need to feel motivated to achieve bigger and better things. Stop listening also to people who think that none of the things you want to achieve are possible and stop believing that you cannot prove them wrong. Love yourself for being different and for believing in yourself even if no one else does. As you do that, your self-doubt will diminish until it no longer exists. You will then experience the type of peace and satisfaction that will keep your self-doubt from stalking your thoughts and from controlling your ability to succeed.
