Light at the End of the Tunnel

Those who experience chronic depression, like I did, have a tough time finding light at the end of the tunnel. However, this is compounded by the fact that in reality the only one that can shed light at the end of the tunnel is you. No one can do that for you. No one can decide for you when to let go of your hopeless and helpless feelings. This does not mean that you are to blame for feeling the way you do. It just means that you are not ready to let go of such feelings.

These self-destructive feelings may be coming about the anger that you may be experiencing against yourself. Whether it is anger about not being able to handle situations the way you feel they should be handled, is something that only you can control. At some point it will help if you decide to forgive yourself for not being this perfect person that you wish you could be. We all make mistakes and that’s OK. The faster you can accept that, the sooner that you will be able to see that there is in fact light at the end of the tunnel.
